El Cajon sergeant accused of sexual assault

Police Department is the subject of an internal investigation stemming from a
sex-assault accusation lodged by a law enforcement volunteer, ECPD Chief Pat
Sprecco disclosed today.
The sergeant has been on leave since the
allegation arose late last summer, according to Sprecco, who declined to release
the name, gender or age of the accused.
Since then, the District Attorney’s Office has investigated the case and rejected it
due to lack of evidence, according to Sprecco.
Sheriff’s Department on Aug. 28, the day after it purportedly occurred in
Alpine, a community within the enforcement jurisdiction of the latter
agency.
“The reporting party/victim is a 20-year-old male volunteer with
the El Cajon Police (Department),” Sprecco said in a prepared
statement.
The sergeant will remain on leave pending completion of the
in-house review of the allegations, the chief said.
“We have determined through our investigation that this case involves only one police sergeant and
one police volunteer,” Sprecco added.
